Welcome to Franchine Young Ireland’s Summer Skin School, where we share advice and ideas to keep your skin radiant during the summer months.
For the next four weeks, I’ll be giving you the lowdown, tips, tricks and all the hot takes on skincare for summer.
It’s great to feel the warmth of the summer sun on winter skin, but when summer sets in, so do heat, UV rays and air conditioning. So, let’s find out how to manage our skin during this often harsh time of year…
Summer skincare for oily skin
Summer heat tends to mean more sweat, more oil and rapid skin cell production.
Most likely you will be using an SPF. When dead skin cells mix with this excess oil and sweat, say hello to skin rashes and breakouts.
Summer skincare for oily skin starts with cleaning. It’s important over the summer months to cleanse, cleanse and cleanse again. Clean skin is happy skin!
Switching to a routine at the start of the season will help protect sensitive skin and prevent unwanted problems.
Cleansing and exfoliating is key to summer skincare success. My routine involves using Wonder Balm twice a day, first thing in the morning and last thing at night.

Skincare for summer with our Wonder Balm
Wonder Balm is our veritable miracle worker! It’s a hand-poured, plant-powered jar of buttery magic.
This little pot of sunshine acts as both a cleanser and moisturiser depending on the skin’s condition, with its dual function making it great for travelling light. It works to repair and restore, leaving the complexion softer, hydrated and with a radiant, healthy glow.
Each hand-poured jar contains three organic plant-based oils, two nourishing anti-oxidant packed butters, beeswax for healing and a unique Irish blend of essential oils to fight ageing or problematic skin.
It has been formulated to plump, improve elasticity and lock in moisture.
Summer skincare for dry skin
Speaking of moisture, make sure during the summer to keep up your water intake.
On average, a person should have eight glasses or roughly two litres of water every day. During the warmer months, drinking approximately two and a half litres is recommended.
Great skin comes from looking after it inside and out.
I like to live by a ‘less is more’ approach when it comes to taking care of my skin. I love the fact that Wonder Balm is a multi-tasker acting as both a cleanser and a moisturiser.
Its cleansing properties make Wonder Balm a terrific secret weapon when it comes to summer skincare for dry skin. All those nourishing ingredients carefully remove dead skin cells and daily pollution, feeding back into the skin rather than taking away all its natural goodness as harsh cleansers tend to do.
I hope this helps you in your quest for healthy, beautiful skin during these hot, dry months. If you’re interested to know more about Wonder Balm or you have a question for me, don’t hesitate to contact me – I’d love to hear from you!
