Investing in an organic face moisturiser is, in my opinion, investing in better health not only for our skin but for the world around us.
My top 4 tips on how to choose the best organic face moisturiser
So, I did not so much as choose the best organic face moisturiser, I made it. But if I were starting out again on this journey, here is how I would choose the best organic face moisturiser:
1. Know your skin type
Broadly speaking, there are five skin types:
- Normal
- Combination
- Dry
- Oily
- Sensitive
If you’re not sure which skin type you are, I’ve suggested this quick and easy skin type DIY test to help you find out. Knowing your skin is fundamental, as this dictates the ingredients it needs.
2. Seek out key ingredients that are right for your skin type
When it comes to organic moisturiser for the face, some of the more typical ingredients include:
- Cocoa butter – rich in antioxidants and particularly effective for sensitive skin
- Argan oil – a liquid gold packed with Vitamins A and E, this is a superb all-rounder that cares for normal, sensitive, acne-prone and ageing skin
- Borage seed oil – containing the omega-6 fatty acid, this is a wonderful oil for dry skin and conditions such as psoriasis and eczema
- Beeswax – its antibacterial properties make beeswax effective in the treatment of dry, acne-prone and sensitive skin conditions such as eczema
- Essential lavender oil – an anti-inflammatory, this is terrific for calming and soothing angry, sensitive skin
It’s no surprise that my Franchine Young Wonder Balm contains these and many other active ingredients, making it the best organic face moisturiser for so many of our customers.
3. Beware of misleading marketing
Is your organic moisturiser for the face over-promising? I’m a huge believer in radiant, natural beauty, laughter lines, freckles, moles and all! These are features that make each of us unique and truly beautiful. Products that promise to wipe away all traces of a life well-lived aren’t going to deliver. All they will do is make us feel guilty, angry or envious that we can’t live up to some perfect – but entirely unachievable – ideal. The best organic face moisturiser doesn’t promise to change your life, it promises to care gently, naturally and effectively for your skin. Anything more is just a hollow, impossible goal!
4. Look for organic certification from a trusted source
Thanks to regulation, it is, I am glad to say, becoming increasingly difficult for a product to make false claims. That said, be sure to check that the entire product is organic, not just one or two ingredients. My products are the closest we can possibly get to fully organic. We have achieved a 99.8% organic rating by the Organic Soil Association and COSMOS (Cosmetic Organic and Natural Standard), which sets certification requirements for organic and natural cosmetic products in Europe. These organisations really set the bar for organic products, so you want to ensure you’re paying good money for something they approve.
My journey to find the best organic face moisturiser
When it comes to choosing the best organic face moisturiser, I am a great believer in the potency of Mother Nature.
Why turn to synthetics when everything we need can be provided naturally, simply and effectively? My belief in plant-powered skincare stems from a lifelong search for the best natural moisturiser for my face. You name it, I tried it; lotions, potions, diet, lifestyle choices, the works. It wasn’t until I experienced the terrible effect of menopause on my skin that my quest became an obsession. I didn’t want to find the best natural moisturiser for my face, I absolutely had to.
Nothing worked. The horrendous-looking, painful hormone-induced facial rash just got angrier and angrier. It was not until I actually made my own organic face moisturiser that my symptoms began to subside and I realised organic was the answer.
Indeed, it’s one thing to use a natural face moisturiser, but an organic natural face moisturiser took my skincare regime to a new level, and I’ve never looked back. I am adamant that our skin reflects our health and that organic is, in every instance, the healthiest option available. Every day we are surrounded by toxins, stress, pollution and even poison. In my little pot of Wonder Balm, I can at least begin to undo some of the daily stresses my complexion endures, and so can you.
I hope this helps you in your own quest for how to choose the best organic face moisturiser. Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions; I’d love to hear from you!
