Frequently Asked Questions
Our beautiful customers often come to us with interesting questions about our certified organic skincare Wonder Balm and the story behind it. As a result we have compiled answers to some of the most common. Feel free to browse below to find what you are after, or just contact us.
Absolutely it is! All our ingredients are organic, non GM and where possible raw and unrefined.
It is certified 99.8% organic by the Organic Soil Association and COSMOS (Cosmetic Organic and Natural Standard, which sets certification requirements for organic and natural cosmetic products in Europe).
We can assure you they are 100% of natural origin – please scroll down this page for the full list of ingredients.
As we see it, a balm is a substance that tends to be thicker than cream and is solely oil based. A cream tends to be a mix of oils and water and lighter in substance
It is versatile enough to act as either a cleanser or moisturiser – or even as both! It depends on your skin and your skin’s needs.
Someone with naturally greasy skin is likely to find it best suited as a cleanser only and perhaps a evening balm 2 / 3 nights per week (use sparingly); the oils remove make-up and even mascara – but it might be too much for their skin to also serve as a moisturiser, especially for day wear under make-up.
Someone with drier or normal skin however, might use it as both a cleanser and a moisturiser.
As a moisturiser:
Take a pea sized amount with clean fingertips – allow balm to melt and apply to clean dry skin – massaging onto the face and neck. Tip #1 (Franchine likes to use a jade facial roller).
As a cleanser:
Take a pea sized amount with clean fingertips – allow balm to melt and apply to clean dry skin – massaging onto the face and neck, working well into heavy or stubborn make-up such as mascara. Wipe away with a hand hot cloth. Tip #2 (Franchine likes to use an organic muslin facial cloth).
First thing in the morning after washing your face with plain water (and if preferred a spray of facial toner). Tip #3 (Franchine likes to use organic rosewater).
At bedtime to cleanse away dirt, grime and make-up, reapplied as an evening balm (if applicable).
Experiment! A little goes a long way – we recommend a pea-sized amount. As the product warms it spreads very easily and skin will begin to absorb it quite quickly.
No, you can use Wonder Balm on any sensitive, dry, trouble skin spots around the body. Obviously the surface size though will dictate just how much you need.
Balms are primarily oil based and so react to external room temperatures quite quickly. This does not diminish the balm in anyway. Keep out of direct sunlight. In a cooler environment the balm will naturally lightly solidify. Our balm has no added chemicals or preservatives.
Although Franchine developed the balm as a result of her skin’s reaction to menopausal changes, it is by no means limited to menopausal skin. We believe it is best placed to care for skin that is in some kind of state of change (see below)
Skin that appears to respond best to the balm is ideally undergoing change of some sort. That could be skin changing as a result of puberty, pregnancy, menopause, or as a result of other factors such as seasonal changes, lifestyle changes, etc.
It was not made specifically with men’s skin in mind however, we have had customer feedback from men who apply this to their beards to prevent rash or indeed use it as a daily moisturiser.
